Sous Chef

About Us

Amigos is a community-driven surf camp for solo travelers who want more than just waves — they want connection, meaning, and the best week of their lives. Our guests are mostly early-to-mid-20s, lots of first-time female travelers, beginner surfers, and people who travel to feel something real.

Job Description

Food brings our whole camp together — long tables, shared stories, and the joy of eating well after a day in the waves. We're looking for a dedicated Sous Chef who loves creating great meals and thrives in a fast-paced, positive kitchen environment.

Your Role

You'll be the Head Chef's right hand — preparing ingredients, cooking fresh daily meals by helping deliver our high-quality, healthy 3-course dinner experience served five nights a week, and a signature BBQ night. You'll be part of creating one of the most unique food experiences in any surf camp.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare ingredients and support daily cooking for our high-standard 3-course dinners
  • Cook and plate dishes with consistency, quality, and strong attention to presentation
  • Help deliver a memorable dining experience six nights a week, including our weekly BBQ
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly throughout the day
  • Monitor inventory, restock supplies, and communicate needs to the Head Chef
  • Support dietary requirements and coordinate with the service team during busy hours
  • Maintain a positive, motivated kitchen atmosphere built on teamwork and passion for food
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to uphold quality standards and improve kitchen operations.

What You Bring:

  • Kitchen or restaurant experience (professional or camp-style)
  • Passion for cooking and a good sense of flavor and presentation
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to stay calm and efficient during busy services
  • Reliability, positivity, and a willingness to learn

Benefits:

This position comes with a range of benefits designed to make your experience with us both enjoyable and fulfilling.

  • Accommodation: Embrace surf camp life inside a private Quechua tent in the staff camping zone. Your accommodation includes a proper mattress, bedframe, pillow, blanket, and bedding, along with access to electricity.
  • Meals: Enjoy homemade breakfast, lunch, and a delicious 3-course dinner every single day, prepared by our talented kitchen team. (Wednesday dinner isn’t a 3-course but it is provided for staff)
  • Surf Gear: Take advantage of our top of the range surfboards and wetsuits, available for your personal use, allowing you to fully embrace the surfing experience at Oyambre beach, a short 7 minute walk away.
  • Yoga Classes: If the daily yoga session slots aren’t full, you can put your name down and enjoy a free session with our yoga instructor.
  • Workshops: The team are more than welcome to join the Surf Theory class, hosted by the surf instructors, and the Nutrition Workshop, hosted by the chefs.
  • Time Off: Benefit from one day off per week, aligned with the kitchen team schedule, to explore the surroundings or simply relax and recharge.
