Amigos is a community-driven surf camp for solo travelers who want more than just waves — they want connection, meaning, and the best week of their lives. Our guests are mostly early-to-mid-20s, lots of first-time female travelers, beginner surfers, and people who travel to feel something real.
Job Description
Amigos Surf Project is all about sharing the joy of surfing and creating unforgettable moments by the ocean. As a Surf Helper, you'll support our surf instructors to ensure every lesson runs smoothly, safely, and with the good vibes we're known for.
What You'll Do:
- Support Surf Instructors: Assist during surf lessons to create a smooth learning experience.
- Work With Mixed-Level Groups: Take and guide guests who are slightly more advanced while instructors focus on beginners.
- Guest Coordination: Help pick up and gather new surf groups each day, ensuring everyone arrives on time for their lesson.
- Headcounts & Equipment Check: Count all participants before leaving camp and make sure the correct number of boards are taken to the beach. Prevents overpacking when guests don’t show up.
- Warm-Up Sessions: Lead fun, safe, and motivating warm-up routines on the beach before each lesson.
- Surf Knowledge: Provide tips and positive encouragement to guests during lessons (within your level of responsibility).
- Team Support: Bring breakfast to the surf team before morning sessions and assist with small daily tasks that keep operations running smoothly.
What You Bring:
- Solid Surfing Skills: Several years of surfing experience and confidence in the water.
- Positive Energy: A friendly, helpful attitude and a passion for helping people learn to surf.
- Team Spirit: Reliable, supportive, and ready to work closely with instructors and the camp team.
- Good Communication: Able to guide groups, explain basic instructions, and keep everyone organized.
- Responsibility & Awareness: Understanding of beach safety, respect for ocean conditions, and ability to follow instructor guidance.
Benefits:
This position comes with a range of benefits designed to make your experience with us both enjoyable and fulfilling.
- Accommodation: Embrace surf camp life inside a private Quechua tent in the staff camping zone. Your accommodation includes a proper mattress, bedframe, pillow, blanket, and bedding, along with access to electricity.
- Meals: Enjoy homemade breakfast, lunch, and a delicious 3-course dinner every single day, prepared by our talented kitchen team. (Wednesday dinner isn’t a 3-course but it is provided for staff)
- Surf Gear: Take advantage of our top of the range surfboards and wetsuits, available for your personal use, allowing you to fully embrace the surfing experience at Oyambre beach, a short 7 minute walk away.
- Yoga Classes: If the daily yoga session slots aren’t full, you can put your name down and enjoy a free session with our yoga instructor.
- Workshops: The team are more than welcome to join the Surf Theory class, hosted by the surf instructors, and the Nutrition Workshop, hosted by the chefs.
- Time Off: Benefit from one day off per week, aligned with the kitchen team schedule, to explore the surroundings or simply relax and recharge.
